Exhaust issue
« on: March 12, 2016, 06:10:06 PM »
Driving home today, I noticed my exhaust sounded very loud. When I checked it, the pipe is hanging off.  :o Any ideas on how much this is going to cost me, and best place to get it done?

I would ring around to find a local garage with a good reputation, ring a couple of places for quotes then take it to the one that has been recommended by friends /colleagues.
Don't get talked into and its needs x and y as well. Get the invoice to state the guarantee period from x date to y date.

Getting the old silencer off can be a faff on the driveway - I allow 45mins removal & fitting. Bosal are an established maker of exhausts the OE Honda parts runs around £120 but they should last 5/6 years

E Bay lists these to give you an idea,
1yr waranty -http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-JAZZ-Bosal-Exhaust-Rear-Silencer-163-395-1-2-03-02-12-08-/390807358206?hash=item5afdef0afe:g:S7UAAOxykmZTNFFI
3yr warranty -http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1x-BOSAL-OE-Quality-Replacement-Rear-End-Silencer-Exhaust-For-HONDA-Petrol-/191625348217?fits=Car+Make%3AHonda|Model%3AJazz&hash=item2c9dc2c479:g:m3MAAOSwjVVVnN3y

ah, thanks. I kind of hoping that its just a clamp that holds it on or semthing,. as opposed to needing a whole new exhaust.  :(

Best to take it to your fav mechanic - if its a clamp then 15mins to repair.
Best to fix rather than be pulled overe for noise
Let the forum know how you get on.

Hi all, ok, I went to a local independant, recommended Honda garage.

They replaced the exhaust back box, the rear section, and a sealing ring. Total cost (including VAT) £84.00.

Comes with a 2 year guarantee so all in all, it wasnt too painful.  ;)

Pleasant blokes too, seem to want to culitivate my business, and for now, they will have it.

Great , now you can take the Jazz for servicing ask them to quote and then check £ savings with Honda dealer.
Remember you can supply Honda parts and oil and just have the garage charge for labour - I've been doing this for 12 years.
