2007 1.2 i-DSi prone to pinging under load
« on: August 19, 2014, 10:50:20 AM »
Hi all,
SWMBO's 2007 Jazz 1.2 iDSI keeps pinging when trying to gain speed on high-ish gears (typically 3+)

Now, my scangauge reports no faults, the car has been maintained with oil and filter changes, sparks have been changed with Denso Iridium.

I've read to check coils, spark plugs and give a clean to injectors, but are you aware of any recall about wrong timing set by the ECU??

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Stefano

Pinking?
You could try better petrol, probably give better mpg as well.

Petrol is all that is left.  Try it and report back to us.  I am sure other readers have experienced similar problems

my wifes 1.4 Dsi used to ping on supermarket fuel, remember European Jazz is tuned for 95 RON 'minimum' - try 97 or 98 for a couple of tanks,  pinging should pretty much disappear - could also try redex to make sure injectors are clean.

Run the car until the fuel light shows up  then Fill with Shell or BP unleaded
