You could try putting a dose of  fuel injector cleaner in the tank.  Chose the concentrated type designed to give noticeable results in just one dose  on injectors that are already dirty.   Not the cheaper ones designed to prevent the injectors ever getting dirty in the first place when used in every tankful over a long period.

If any injectors are not running smoothly or giving a good spray pattern I  believe an excess of petrol can build and the engine runs 'rich'.  But if the excess petrol is 'burned off'  and the engine once again achieves the ideal  14.7 :1 air fuel mix the engine starts to  run better , with a surge. It might even use some of the excess petrol build up like its more throttle input. Rough running at tickover may be in effect be   mini surges.

There may be other causes of the surging such as spark plugs, coils, air filter, fuel pressure etc    but I think a dose  of cleaner might be worth a try initially.

Honda Jazz Mk3 2015-2020 / Re: Safety Recall - Fuel Pump

This has been known about for some time (see previous topic), coincidentally I received the same letter today.

I've decided not to have it done at least not in the near future.

I've just had a letter from Honda regarding a Fuel Pump Module Defect.
Has anyone else had this letter?

I've not had any issues with malfunction in that department but do you think it's best interest to head the dealership and have this sorted?

My lease ends after Christmas so not sure if I'd be responsible to fit the bill when handing over the car.

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: Free or discounted MOT with service?

When I used Crown Honda, Bushey Heath, they did free MOT with the annual service

They are now Brayley Honda, apparently same staff, but I don't know if they still do it

If I still have my Jazz at the end of Aug I'm driving the 30 miles back there as my 2 services near Reading haven't impressed

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Free or discounted MOT with service?

I am due my third service, of five, (on the Honda finance deal), and first MOT next month. Has anyone in a similar position, had a complimentary, or discounted,MOT? Also, not being able to find any paperwork relating to the free extension on years four and five, of the parts and labour warranty, I phoned the dealership. They stated that the confirmation of this, is sent just prior to the expiration of the standard three year warranty.

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: Mk4 2021 Jazz Brake failure

Yesterday our brake servo feel simulator was replaced. Since our dealer in Toruń (and also the one in Bydgoszcz (28 miles away) disappeared, we had to drive to Gdansk (190 miles in total for a visit to the dealer.... >:().
Luckily there was a large shopping mall nearby, so we didn't have to spend more than 3 hours at the dealer.
The dealer really did his best: without asking, they also provided the navigation with the latest map version. Maybe they saw us as a possible new (distant) customer... ;D
Our mpg went also bonkers, just as the average speed.
Oh... and all this happened without having seen one or more letters from Honda, only two phone calls. One to Honda Poland and one to the dealer.

when driving down the motorway, a sudden surge forward feeling. This used to happen when stopped at the roundabout and accelerating away. Spark plugs were replaced.

This tends to happen when the engine is warm after driving for 40 minutes or so.
It is unlikely the transmission as when driving down at steady sped i felt the surge couple of times.  Could this the coils?
This happen once every 100-125 miles.  So it is hard to diagnose, no codes or engine light. I was wondering if anyone had any tips and helps.
Also there very slight rough idle like skipping heart beat feeling which can be felt while sitting on the driver's seat.

Honda Jazz Mk2 2008-2015 / Re: Am I using a lot of fuel ??

You can reset the trip computer and find out the mpg for some of your trips. Usually it is not that far off the real mpg.

When it did only shorter trips during its entire life, good quality fuel (and/or an additive), a long trip and some Italian tune-up may do wonders.

Are you using the airconditioning? That might increase consumption by 10% or more (and you feel it kicking in, which I think is annoying).

What does the trip computer show when you reset it while doing a constant speed? That might make comparison to other Jazzes out here easier. E.g. 50 in fifth and 30 in fourth.

Enjoy your Jazz!

Most of my journeys these days are short, local trips and looking at my records I was getting around 35 - 36 MPG since buying my Jazz. However, last year I had to undertake two longish round trips (London - Plymouth using the Motorway and fast dual-carriageways) which brought the average for the year down to about 24 MPG.

Car bought at just over 50,000 miles and now showing a tad over 60,000 after roughly 3 1/2 years. It is quite difficult to quantify fuel usage as it would depend on where you live and what the car is used for, but as shown in the attachment posted by Lord Voltermore, MPG can vary considerably between users, but your figures do not appear excessive.

Measure true reading when filled next time - provided it was full at start, gauge error etc can be misleading
