Mk3 or Mk4 jazz, depending on what is available at where your live. Less miles is better.

We have Mk3 as family car and it is reliable, like a lot.

But in reality it all comes down to your needs, whats your daily commute, what you gonna use the car for etc etc.

Service Manual says that after a reset of the ECU (which is basically done with a longer battery disconnect aswell) the car should relearn the idle.

But literally its just a matter of starting the car, warming it up and letting it idle for 5 minutes, thats all. It will adjust itself

Hi and sorry for the newbie post. I'm looking for some clarification about wether an idle relearn procedure needs to be done after disconnecting the battery and if so what is the procedure please? I've combed the Web and found conflicting information and no longer know what to believe. Any help would very much be appreciated. I will be posting more in the near future as the car is new to me and needs a few jobs doing. It's a UK 2004 1.3idsi manual

How are sills, wheelarches and door edges from underside, under the rubber lip? How's the front of the bonnet from underside?

Looks pretty good to me.  If it was mine I'd spray the whole underside including the suspension, subframe and rear axle with a lanolin product.  I buy it from rustbuster in concentrated form, and thin it myself.

China do produce some good things, when they have the specs from elsewhere, but as I said "designed and built in China", that would be my worry with vehicles

The problem here is that that is history by now. They looked at us, copied, caught up, improved a bit, took us over, and they now make things (including vehicles!) as good as or better (and much cheaper!) than "us"!
History repeats itself: think of Japanese cars, then South Korean cars, and now Chinese cars.
And let's just wait and see, for example, what the first mass-produced solid-state batteries will say... "Made in China"...?

So the RDMS doesn't like a smooth driving style (which is why its always going off in our car)

Surely something that detects an aggressive driving style would be a far better safety feature

If I look around my house I can probably count the number items on one hand that aren't made in China or have Chinese components.  The same will be true of car components I'm sure.  Nevertheless my next car will more than likely be a Renault.
