Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: Honda Jazz is an understated star

I did read about the 7 year MG warrantry and many things are either time or mileage limited - example shock absorbers 36k miles and lots of other items have less tban 7 years cover . So be mindful to study the small print as it may not be as it appears !

Honda Jazz Mk3 2015-2020 / upgrading radio to android
« Last post by Macmartin on March 25, 2025, 06:28:34 PM »
I'm installing an AINAVI android radio on a 2015 Honda Jazz and would like to know if I need a Canbus interface to be able to call up the rear view camera automatically when the car is put into reverse.

Sometimes this error is caused by an aftermarket Cat.
Otherwise it's normally the 02 Sensor.

One thing to bear in mind is that dashcams often need to bootup and shutdown/write and finalise the last video

I've seen numerous reports of dashcams failing to start because they have been wired to an IGN source that is IGN pos 1

IGN pos 2 is better

The reason is that many IGN pos 1 feeds totally lose power when the starter motor kicks in

Dashcam sees new power via IGN 1, starts to boot, starter motor engaged and dashcam loses power so starts shutdown. Before shutdown has completed power is restored when starter finishes. Unfortunately the dashcam is looking for new power so fails to boot

Most IGN 2 circuits stay live during starter motor so are less prone to failure

Fortunately the 'option connector' on my 8G and 9G Civic and the MK4 Jazz have power leads for both IGN 1 and IGN 2 although the MK4 doesn't fire the starter in the same way via the key

Honda Jazz Mk3 2015-2020 / Re: Outstanding recall noted on gov website

another twist , called into the Honda dealer on another matter and mentioned about the recall work on my car already booked for 10 days time.

He confirmed that the pump would come complete with the filter,  cancelling the £86 which they originally quoted  to replace it.

The other matter is a slight leak on a front suspension strut noted as an advisory on the MOT. The dealer is going to check and replace if necessary , luckily I have 1 month left on the Extended Warranty !

I have a Viofo A129 Plus Duo (so front and back) and while it has a parking mode option I didn't use it, mainly because I didn't see a scenario where it would help and carried more risk of draining the 12v battery.

However, there is one useful purpose and that is if you own a car that might be more likely to be stolen. A thief may not be too happy walking up to a car which has a camera recording. A Jazz though? Unlikely.

But to answer the question, I think I used this site when I did mine: https://www.startmycar.com/honda/jazz/info/fusebox/2015/country-uk#anchorfusebox1

Have you got a multimeter? That's really the best way to check for a live feed. Maybe one of the empty slots is permanently live, in which case that could be a good candidate.

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: No Rusty Bolts Etc - Impressed!

I agree.  The only exception is the Bright alloy used for the  big 'lump' of stuff to the right of the engine.

My 6 month old car  has white powdery deposits which I assume is  aluminium oxide corrosion  (Al₂O₃)  . This might become more pronounced over time ,although my  previous Mk4 had it too and was no worse at 3 years old.

I'm not particularly bothered by it   (out of sight out of mind  :P) but could possibly polish it up and apply some sort of protective coating if it doesnt get too hot.
Mostly laziness but when I try to judge a car by the cleanliness of its engine bay  I prefer some honest dust  and signs of age, rather than newly valeted. 8)

My Jazz Advance was registered July 2023 so is nearly 18 months old

When I pop the bonnet to check the oil etc I’m always impressed how good the under bonnet looks

There are no rusty bolts and everything still looks brand new

Honda Jazz Mk4 2020 - / Re: Mk4 2021 Jazz Brake failure

My brake recall just got postponed by 2 weeks.

I know it's always someone else's fault with this kind of thing but I was told that ''Honda are a bit slow getting the parts out.''

I wonder whether this might become a general problem.

Initially I was told 4 weeks, revised to 6 weeks and part finally arrived after 9 weeks. Don’t hold your breath.
