Hello from New Zealand
« on: January 29, 2022, 05:13:51 AM »
Hi Everyone,

A Mk4 Jazz joined our fleet seven months ago as a replacement for a BMW i3, and we have loved it so far. It is mostly used as a city car though has also easily coped with some longer trips. The depth of engineering that went into the Jazz is very impressive, and its ease of use is a standout feature. The rest of our fleet consists of two BMWs (535i and M135i) and a Mercedes CLS500 and the Jazz has quickly garnered as much respect and love as the others.

Thanks for a great forum - it is lovely to read of so many others who appreciate this excellent vehicle.

Welcome. :)  Does the Kiwi Mk 4 have any towing capacity? I recall that you folk like to haul boats and trailers.

A quick Google didn't find the answer but found this https://www.autocar.co.nz/honda-nz-finally-confirms-all-new-jazz-for-kiwi-line-up/ with the intriguing statement "It utilises a unique two-motor hybrid system paired to a 1.5-litre petrol engine. One motor is geared for efficiency and the other is geared for performance — like a modern day electrified version of VTEC" which demonstrates a serious misunderstanding about how Honda's hybrid system works.

Hi John,

Thanks for the comments. According to the Honda NZ website the towing capacity is not rated so I assume it can't tow. Not a big issue for me as we don't tow.

Re NZ Autocar article - yes, they got that wrong.

Hello and welcome. :)

Was the BMW i3 fully electric or the range-extender?

Hi Richard,

It was the range extender. Very interesting car but it had a very firm ride which is why it got moved on. That, and the BMW warranty was ending and I didn't want to own it outside warranty. By the way the Jazz's ride is positively plush in comparison.
