Title: After a quick January wash.
Post by: Jocko on January 19, 2021, 07:29:40 PM
Freshly pressure washed. Doesn't look too bad for 134,000 miles and almost 15 years old.

Looks superb! Now for a triple coat of wax and polymer sealant on top ;D

I use Bilt Hamber wax in the summer. Never considered a sealant.

I use Bilt Hamber wax in the summer. Never considered a sealant.

Neither did I but I bought some fancy polymer car wax and couldn't be bothered to remove almost new 3 layers of wax I've put on this summer so just washed and used it on top. THEN I read the label in full and it said that the product can be used on top of other waxes as a "top coat".
The car is still really shiny now!

EDIT: Will be trying out this summer a combination of Naviwax + polymer top coat after I figure out how safely remove old waxes :D

Looks great! Doesn't matter what age a car is, when it's nice and cleaned, it looks beautiful. Nice to get a new set of alloys or wheel trims?

I haven't washed my car this year-crazy, I know. Normally at least once a week, both cars. But since the lockdown, due to the weather, lack of day light and energy, I haven't washed them. I did clean the interior glass and hoover the inside. Managed to check the tyre pressures yesterday. Registered no change from December due to lack of driving.

I would never consider alloys. By the time I got alloys and tyres to go with them, they would end up of more value than the car. I have wheel trims, but the wheels themselves get filthy when the trims are on and taking them on and off every time I washed the car was a PITA. I took them off last winter, for convenience, and never got back to putting them on.

Looks tidy for what is nearly 15 year old car! Back in the day, most cars were rusted into the scarp yard at 10 yrs old.
