SRS Control Module
« on: February 21, 2012, 05:45:49 AM »
Hello everyone.

First post here and it looks like owning this little Jazz is about to become rather expensive.

The dealer has diagnosed that the SRS control module is faulty. In NZ they are about $900NZ!

I have some questions:

-What is the part number of this for a GD L13A Jazz
-Is there anything like this http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/E39/Sedan/Europe/M5-S62/RHD/M/2001/september/browse/ or this http://www.bmw-planet.com/diagrams/release/en/e39new/index.htm available for these cars on the internet.
-Is there place where I can get these cheaper?
-Has anyone managed to fix one of these modules by for instance repairing a dry solder joint etc?
-Where is it located
-Is the software for resetting the codes available on the net some where and what is it called.

I hope that is clear enough.

Many thanks
James

I'm not sure how the Jazz SRS module compares, but I still have the SRS module from my 2004 Honda Civic Sport. I removed the complete air bag and SRS system as it was mainly a track car. The unit is in perfect working order.
Are you able to pull back the carpet in the passenger footwell and take a look at it?
I can post the picture of my spare SRS module so you can compare it with yours if you like?
Steve.

Just had a look in my manual. The SRS module is located under the carpet beneath the centre console. You have to remove the centre console before pulling the carpet back and gaining access to the module.

Unfortunately, my spare Civic SRS module is different to the Jazz one.
What seems to be the problem? Are you getting a light up on the dash?

Just found a Honda Jazz SRS module on eBay.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-JAZZ-01-05-AIRBAG-MODULE-SRS-ECU-NO-77960-SAA-G811-M1-/260945196612?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cc18bb644

UK seller, 45 + 15.99 postage to NZ.

Way better than the $900 you were quoted.  ;)

The Civic one will be different. The SRS monitors the crash sensors and then determines if it is a crash or not and if to fire the airbags. This depends on so many things such as structure, position of sensors, airbag design etc.

Often the calibration of the SRS is different for different markets (especially the USA).

Get the correct one or disconnect it. The wrong one could be dangerous.

Wow thanks guys. What a great forum!

Thanks for the link Steve that might be the best option for now and then see if I can fix the old one.

Mine is a 77960 SAA G822-M1 rather than 7960 SAA G811-M1 will that be compatible? ie it wont activate the air bags?

Where would be the best place to get a well priced new unit if I decided to go that way?
