2010 Jazz1.4i-vtec i-shift
« on: October 15, 2010, 05:52:03 PM »
I bought this car in August this year and I have a problem with the mileage I am getting.
My computer says when I fill up that I have between 430-450 miles to next fill up and it showed that I was averaging 49-50 mpg when driving but I only get 320 miles to a tank full and that is down to 0 miles left to go according to computer.

Has anybody else have this problem.

I have been back to the dealer and they say it is fine but since then I can only ever get 46 MPG average when driving now.

Hey, check previous posts (http://clubjazz.org/forum/jazz-ge-2009/amount-of-petrol-left/msg4413/#msg4413)

According the Honda technical department in my country everything is as it should be also ... meaning, no use of the feature "expected mileage wtih the rest of the tank". Sadly for HONDA brand.
When the trip computer tells you 0 km left there is still approx 9-10 l of gas left in the tank!!!

You can get the approx. expected mileage with the tank with the help of the feature "MPG" (if you filled up the tank to the top and set the A counter to the zero). The trip computer is a bit too optimistic so you have to add a little (in my case 0,3 l/100km). Then you do a simple math and divide tank capasity (42l) with MPG (l/100km) x100.
It's the only way .... buuuueee Honda

This was the same on GD Jazz - when the fuel light came on there was still at least 7 litres in tank.

Also as the weather gets colder your mpg will get worse :(
Some people will only consider you an expert if they agree with your point of view or advice,  when you give them advice they don't like they consider you an idiot

I have the same problem with my 2009 model, I think they make these cars too intelligent for their own good!  I only ever get about 330 miles from my tank even at 50mpg

The on board computer is only there as a guide but even so, I wouldnt trust it.

It all depends on your driving style as to how much mpg you get.

For me, on average, I get 300miles to a tank ( I usually fill up not long after the petrol light comes on)

Gary, it would be better without such a guide which is not even approx.  :(
