do honda still build the hybrid jazz as i haven't seen one on the honda website

In Japan. Not exported to the UK. Not yet anyway. Don't know why: maybe not favourable exchange rate?

I suspect that Honda haven't yet decided whether to bring a Mk 3 hybrid to Europe. Most likely the decision making is tied to the wider issue of whether/how to expand the Jazz range. Some people would like a 1.5 litre version while there have been reports of Honda developing a 1 litre 3 cylinder turbo motor. The latter could provide a better foundation for a new hybrid than what is in the current Japanese hybrid.

It was over 2 years after arrival of the Mk 2 in the UK before the hybrid version showed up so some delay this time around would not be inconsistent. However, given the VED changes in 2017 a new hybrid is only likely to sell for its mpg and performance and not because of any saving in the annual VED.

I too would love the option to buy a Hybrid . . . . . maybe time to look at the Yaris again.

My Jazz is now at 175k, now if I averaged 60mpg in my current Hybrid, I would have used 2917 gallons, but had the car done 80 mpg, that would have used 2187 gallons, so I would have saved 730 gallons, or approximately £4300. Thats why I need a hybrid.

I would warn you that Which? didn't get very good mpg when they tested the Yaris hybrid. Since I'm not sure how much content the non-members can access at http://www.whatcar.com/truempg/my-true-mpg I've made the attached graphic on their website.

I take all mpg claims with a pinch of salt. Honda say the hybrid does 62mpg, I get 48-52 depending on lesson content, so its 20% less than the combined mpg stated by Honda, so I would expect to only get 64mpg from a Yaris Hybrid, but thats better than 45mpg the new non-hybrid Jazz would deliver on the same assumption.

My Jazz hybrid only managed 13% better mpg than the non-hybrid Mk 2 I owned previously. I'm sure that better software and more effective use of the battery capacity could have raised the margin. However, a hybrid system doesn't bring much mpg improvement on motorway driving with limited opportunity for energy recovery during braking.
