plasti dip or wheel paint
« on: April 15, 2016, 06:42:24 PM »
Hey Guys and Girls,

I'm new to the forum so Hi again.

I've got a 05 Jazz with 111000 on the clock, the wheels haven't has a great life.
Bunch of kerbs have been kissed buy them and there is a small corner of corrosion to the alloy paintt.

I've been thinking about taking the wheels off, replacing or refurbishing them.

A friend mentioned that he's heard of people who use plastidip on the or spray them with alloy wheel paint.

Has anyone every given this a go?

Thanks in advance

refurb is the ideal way to go. depending on the city you can get it done for £40-£60 per wheel. Pastidip works but only if you have a nice clean surface for it to cling on to. can you not try to repair the kerbing before spraying them?

YouTube has 100s of videos covering this.. post some photos of your wheels so we can see how bad are they

Cheers Legend-ary
I would definitely repair the kerbing and any corrosion before spraying them.
I'm planning on just slowing improving the look for the Car

I plan to repaint my original 6 spoke alloys, I believe a three layer system is best: Primer / Paint / Clearcoat

The corrosion will need sanding back, and the first coat should be an etch primer suitable for aluminium.

Paint cost for 4 wheels should hopefully be about £40 ~ £50

Yea I'd definitely sand them back, looked at alloy wheel paint
Said no need for primer or clearcoat .
I'm also going to dremil the kerb marks and smooth them off before painting
