VG SharkFin Antenna
« on: December 04, 2015, 12:45:28 PM »
I have been looking for a decent SharkFin for ages. The cheap ones are just that. Cheap. They might look OK, but the anticipated performance is not upto my expectations (a short wasp sting lying down in the top of the fin does not inspire confidence)

The Visual Garage Shark Fin is a different matter. Consisting of a custom painted ABS shell containing both a folded and fractal antenna, that connects to your existing 'wasp sting' mount and the whole thing sticks to the roof.

A picture tells a thousand words, so ...

Delivery? About 2 weeks from ordering to delivery from Canada to the UK.

Colour? Spot on

Fitting time? Less than 10 min.

Performance? About the same as it was before IMHO

Cost? Now heres the rub. $87 + $25 P&P + HMRC wanting £12 and ParcelFarce wanting £8 to collect HMRC's cut.

So the best part of £100. But it looks shed loads better (and you won't have to take it off in the car wash)

http://visualgarage.com The website is not much, but Arthur replied to my initial enquiry within 20 min, and is an excellent guy to deal with.

DISCLAIMER. I have no connection with Visual Garage and the shark fin was bought with my own hard earned Lunchon Vouchers.

That does look good- does it work as well as the original ?
I was looking at buying one of these 2 years ago but was put off because Visual Garage's  website was always down, and the alternative Japanese Beatsonic  was also not working, so I never got round to it. I am now thinking of changing my car, so still won't get round to it!
However, it looks really good on your car and sets it off nicely.

I like that!

I also like the de-badged look of your Jazz.  :)

So far the answer is yes. I have tried it on local and a few distant stations and (without doing a straight ABA comparison) I haven't noticed any difference.

I was put off by the (lack of) website, but the fast response and also that they only accept PayPal encouraged me.

A few days down the line, and time to update.

FM:- Excellent sound quality, great reception. maybe a little less sensitive.

AM:- Not that I listen to AM but I thought I would give it a try. Sound quality and reception are both great.

Oh, and it looks great (and hasn't fallen off yet ;) )

That looks well nice!

Always fancied one but couldn't be bothered with install so I just kept my Spoon shorty antenna.

However, at around £100- that's serious money but the main thing is that you're happy with it (coming from a guy that spent ££££ modding mine  ;D)
