1.4 EX wheel laquer
« on: March 28, 2011, 02:30:26 PM »
My EX is in for an A+B service later this week.

What I have noticed while washing the car recently is that the lacquer that's on the alloy wheels is splitting and coming off at the back edges of the "spokes". I'm going to see if Honda will do something about it under the paint and corrosion warranty. It affects all the wheels, and it's on the inside of the wheel, so it's not been caused by rubbing against anything.

I presume they send the originals back to Honda?

I'll be interested if you can keep them (doubt it but worth a try)

Any part replaced under warranty is the property of Honda.

You are unlikely to keep any part replaced.

I believe the removed items are sent to R & D for inspection/future modification.......

This issue has come up on other forums , sometimes owners cankeep the damaged wheels as the transportation costs back to base outway thier value, a couple of Subaru owners managed to keep thier alloys this way.
Worth a try with your dealer
