Towbar Hitch
« on: June 28, 2016, 09:01:50 AM »
Hi.
Does anybody use a towbar hitch on his new Mk3 Jazz? I've to decide whether to buy the original system (800€) or another and cheaper towbar (Westfalia or Autohak), so I'd like to see some pic about your towbars... Could you kindly post some pic and review?
Many thanks..

Thank you so much.
Just some questions...
- Is it simple to remove and re-attach?
- when the swan neck is removed, what do you see? the entire original bumper or the  towbar flange where you attach the removable neck?
Thanks again.

PS for the photo I can wait, it's not so urgent.
Bye,
Fede

The removable hook comes off very simple to remove I hope the photo give you some
idea of the Honda fitting.  K L J

Many many thanks for the pic, that's exactly what I was looking for.
Now I think I will buy the Westfalia hook...

Cheaper than the OEM towbar, invisible when removed and with less possibilities  of damaging during a reverse.
Thanks a lot again.
Bye

Although mine is a Mk1, my OEM Honda towbar is a Westfalia product with a Honda label.  Definitely worth buying through a specialist rather than the dealer.  Only leased cars need a dealer fitted towbar.

Yes, usually manufacturers use rebadged towbars for their OEM ones. For the GK3, the OEM hitch should be not a Westfalia, maybe a Brink...
Anyway, in Italy I would pay 800€ for the OEM towbar, all inclusive (towbar, fitting, burocracy): the Westfalia should be moreorless 300€ cheaper... So no doubt about it, considering that the no-oem is completely hidden when removed.
And I cannot make a DIY installation... In Italy we must pass  a MOT visit, and officers want a declaration of  the mechanic about the correct installation.
