Missing Rubber Roof
« on: September 02, 2014, 02:23:50 PM »
Well, had an interesting experience a week ago in my Jazz.
Driving along out of a 50mph roadwork section and start accelerating, and the rubber roof strip on my driver side starts coming up and rattles on the roof before flying off.

Luckily went to side of road and not into another car, but location means it is nigh on impossible to go back and get it.
Anyone else had this happen?

I'm wondering how important the roof strips are. I understand the channel is just a welding channel and also takes water away (or into the boot in mine and many others cases.... I solved that by drilling a hole in the bottom of the tyre well with a rubber eyelet - only about 6mm hole but works a treat ! )
Is it important to replace the rubber strip, and where does one obtain one? I cannot find any on ebay (although i'm not entirely sure what i'm looking for ), and I'm not keen on going to Honda as they will tear me a new one almost certainly!

Scrapyard.

Honda call it:

74306-SAA-003 MOLDING ASSY., R. ROOF
(74316-SAA-003 MOLDING ASSY., L. ROOF)

Lings show a price of £80 on it.

I cannot find any on ebay (although i'm not entirely sure what i'm looking for )

Three listings spied just now with eyeball mk1:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151216091344  -  £20
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151149757955  -  £25
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281253421692  -  £50 (pair, will split)

Good luck.

My one has slightly come off how do I fix it?
Do i just pull it off and re-glue it?
What type of glue do I need to use?
What do I use to clean the roof surface and rubber ?
